The wins keep rolling for 1917 after it triumphed in the Special Visual Effects category of the 2020 EE British Academy Film Awards on Sunday, 2 February.

The World War I drama triumphed amid a strong field that included Avengers: Endgame, The IrishmanStar Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, and The Lion King, which MPC Film also worked on.

The win is a fresh addition to the growing list of accolades for the film, directed by Sam Mendes, after it also picked up wins for Best Picture at the Golden Globes and Best Director for Mendes in both the Golden Globes and the Critics' Choice Awards.

1917 has been lauded by critics for its technical brilliance after it achieved a single-take treatment to tell the story of a dangerous World War I mission.

These victories are a further boost to the film’s already strong momentum going into the 2020 Academy Awards happening on Sunday, 9 February.
